Cindi grew up in Foxborough and graduated from Foxborough High in 1983. At 16 she started working in a Jewelry store where according to Cindi, “I found that I loved jewelry, working with metals and creating things that brought a smile to people’s faces”. From Foxborough High she went to Bridgewater State College (taking two years of business related courses) all the while working jewelry parties before deciding to start her own business. She started out of her parent’s home in early 1985 and finished out her second year of college before going to North Bennet Street School in Boston’s North End.

North Bennet Street School is a craftsman school where you can obtain skills such as jewelry making and repair, violin making, cabinet making, piano restoration, carpentry, bookbinding and locksmithing. The classes would run five days a week and seven hours a day, for a total of 18 months. It took Cindi a lot of practice to be good at making and repairing jewelry. She found that apprenticing is very important to learning, as this is where you can observe someone in action who has more experience, as well as some handy tricks for making each job go better.
